Passionate About Sonoma County
and the Moms Who Live Here

About Our Contributor: Kate Casebier

katecasebierTell us about yourself: Do you work or SAHM? If you work, what do you do? Hobbies?

I’m a work from home mom. In my kid-free hours, I like to cook, read, and play with graphic design.

What’s your family dynamic!

I am married to a wonderful man named Matt and we have a son, Jack, who is currently two and are expecting another boy in February. Jack is curious and energetic. I call him my “perpetual joy machine.”

Where do you live? What’s your favorite part about where you live? What’s your favorite thing about Sonoma County?

While I currently live in Encinitas, California (in San Diego County), I am often home visiting my family living in East Santa Rosa. My favorite thing about Sonoma County is actually two things: the people and the community. I didn’t realize that growing up in a close-knit town, where people still smile at each other and say hello to strangers, could be a hard experience to replicate for my children.

What’s on your nightstand right now?

I just finished reading Carry On, Warrior by Glennon Doyle Melton and the latest Harry Potter, both of which are still on my nightstand. I also have the Michelle Obama biography on there and a daily mom journal, as well as a lavender neck pillow and a reading light.

What’s your blog, and why did you start it?

I am building a graphic design/branding/business coaching business and I have a blog, all called One Jack. I started it because it is a combination of things I love to do and a way to help people while enjoying my life. You can find my current favorite blog post here (on a visit to Santa Barbara). My passions are highlighted in my blog and touched on in my business: travel, typography, and introspection. Other passions include: cheese plates, wine, flower arrangements, coffee, and true time documentaries.

What’s your favorite part about #TeamSCMB?

Working with a group of other women towards a common purpose has been so empowering. Motherhood can be lonely and I love working with other women to make it less so.

What’s your favorite thing about writing? What’s your biggest challenge?

I love writing because it helps me sort out jumbled thoughts and allows me an opportunity to be creative. My biggest challenge is setting aside time to write (without my child pulling to climb into my lap while I type).
